State Basketball Centre- Adelaide Showgrounds

The construction of the State Basketball Centre is complete!

The new centre has four courts and will be able to seat 1600 people, making it ideal for hosting international, national, state, and local events.

The facility is fully equipped for FIBA Level 1 basketball events and can switch between tournament and practice modes. The facility will also accommodate the Dog Section events during Royal Adelaide Show periods.

Of key importance is the sensory room, a first of its kind for spectators with sensory requirements and a new changing placed facility.

Features:

  • Expansion of the existing Wayville Sports Centre basketball court facilities
  • Provision of a new four court basketball hall and associated changerooms; gymnasium; amenities; spectator entry lobby, café and ticketing booth; sensory room; and Basketball SA administration facilities
  • Show court specification to FIBA Level 1 international standard to facilitate WNBL and International Women’s basketball matches and events
  • External landscaping, pedestrian access, roadway adjustments, services infrastructure upgrades

This has been one challenging project for all stakeholders, requiring the team to navigate several complex challenges including:

  • Unprecedented wet weather and associated impacts on civil works
  • Supply chain disruptions (particularly cladding and maple timber sports flooring)
  • Complex deep sewer main excavation and construction

It was very rewarding to inspect and confirm Practical Completion in conjunction with our valued client Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA and project partner and tenant Basketball SA.

SA Power Networks Angaston Depot

The new state of the art SA Power Networks depot on Crennis Mines Road, Angaston is on track to completion August 2020. Construction began on the $6 million development in January 2020 and will serve as a direct replacement for the Nuriootpa Depot.

There has been a strong focus on sustainability and technology throughout the design process of this new facility alongside the operational and safety features that aim to reduce light and heavy vehicle interactions.

Features of the new building include large rainwater tanks, electric vehicle charging station, permeable pavements, 100kW solar system and the latest security and monitoring features.

World Park Precinct – ESS State Headquarters

Pike Constructions has been engaged by Axiom Properties Ltd as the Head Design & Construct Contractor for the delivery of the $50m World Park Precinct – ESS State Headquarters.

This exciting project based out at Keswick will be the new headquarters of the South Australian State Government’s Emergency Services Sector, housing the following agencies:

• CFS – Country Fire Service
• MFS – Metropolitan Fire Service
• SES – State Emergency Service
• SCCC – State Command & Control Centre

The effectiveness of South Australia’s Emergency Services Sector is to provide efficient and effective services to the community by bringing together the above agencies in a bespoke new headquarters that is modern, flexible, collaborative and resilient.

Construction is scheduled to commence on site- July 2020.

SA Health Distribution Centre

Pike Constructions have been awarded to build SA Health’s new Medical Distributions Centre.

The new SA Health Distribution Centre is a $30 million investment by the State Government, utilising state-of-the-art technology fit out which will front the latest in automation and robotics to reduce manual handling and aid in the distribution of medical resources for our state.

This facility will allow the state to increase their capabilities to respond to such crisis’ as the Corona-virus, allowing much needed equipment to be transported to hospitals in a shorter time.

Designed in accordance with importance level 4 – Critical Infrastructure – in the event of a natural disaster, the facility can remain fully operational for 48 hours if all essential services are cut off.

The facility will be completed in March 2021.

Playford Northern CBD Car Park

Pike Constructions are excited to be awarded the City of Playford Northern CBD Car Park project.  Project is a design and construct 360 space multi-level car park to service the Playford Medical Hub and future projects including a proposed hotel, retail space and Playford Arena.

Ground work and Level 1 completed with construction of the 2nd and 3rd level underway. Completion of the car park will expand the City of Playford by attracting private and government investment. Project is currently progressing in line with the construction program with expected completion by October 2018

STEM Kadina

Pike Constructions have recently been awarded the STEM Kadina School upgrade. Project scope includes the construction of two new buildings, one is to be a Multimedia building, the other an Early Learning Centre. Additionally we are refurbishing the Science building.  The first key milestones for this project were successfully met during the first school term, with completion of raft building slabs and the erection of structural steel to new buildings and decanting and demolition of new wall openings for the Science building . Overall project works are currently progressing inline within construction program with project completion expected August 2018.

STEM Moonta

In addition to our Kadina STEM upgrade, Pike Constructions have been awarded Moonta Memorial School STEM upgrade.

Project scope includes for upgrade to 4 existing buildings, both internal and external with new outdoor learning areas added to 3 of these buildings, as well as a site wide ICT upgrade. The first key milestones for this project were successfully met during the first term school holiday period, with handover of internal works to 2 buildings, and completion of sitewide ICT upgrade works achieved in line with school requirements. This allowed the school to move back in and use these areas at start of term 2. Overall project works are currently progressing within construction program with project completion expected July 2018.
